Every roster in Userplay already exists as a tag on your Mailchimp audience. Mailing the people who took part in one playtest means segmenting on that tag, so there is no export, no column mapping, and no list to keep current by hand.

What you need first

  • Mailchimp connected, with a direction that pushes.
  • A playtest, survey, waitlist, or custom group that has players on it.
  • Somewhere to send from in Mailchimp: a template, or a campaign you are happy to build there.

The playbook

1

Find the tag

Go to Integrations and open the Mailchimp tab.
  • In Tags, search for the roster by name.
  • Check that Status reads Syncing.

Groups as tags

Which rosters get a tag, and what the columns mean.

Player groups

Where the roster behind the tag comes from.
2

Resume it if it is paused

Open the row’s overflow menu and click Resume syncing.Wait for Last synced to update before you build anything on it.
3

Build the segment in Mailchimp

In your audience, create a segment matching contacts tagged with that name.Add Subscribed as a second condition so the segment holds only people you can actually mail.
4

Check the count

Compare the segment’s size against the Members count on the Tags row.A smaller segment is normal: it drops anyone who unsubscribed or bounced.
5

Send the campaign

Build and send it in Mailchimp as you would any other.
6

Read the result back

Open the campaign’s report in Mailchimp for opens, clicks and bounces.

Look up one player

Keep the segment working after a rename

Renaming a group in Userplay retires the old tag and applies the new one, so a segment built on the old name stops matching. Rename the group first, wait for the tag to sync, then repoint the segment. Doing it the other way round leaves you with a segment matching nobody and no obvious reason why.

How you know it worked

  • The segment count in Mailchimp is at or just below the Members count on the Tags row.
  • A row for the campaign appears in Campaigns with a Matched count close to Emails.
  • Opening one of those players shows the campaign counted in their Mailchimp section.
