A standalone NDA is an agreement with its own link. Someone opens it, reads the terms, ticks the boxes, and signs. Userplay stores the exact wording they saw alongside the signature, so the record can never drift from what they actually read. For background, see Standalone NDAs. Use it when there is no playtest to hang the agreement on: a press embargo, a publisher preview, a contractor coming on board. If you do have a playtest, the NDA on a playtest covers the same ground inside the player flow.

Take the guided tour

Walk the create flow in the studio and land in the NDA editor.

The playbook

1

Create the NDA

Go to NDAs in the sidebar.
  • Click Create NDA.
  • Give it a name. This is for you, not for signers.
  • Click Create NDA again.
A fresh NDA comes with a starter agreement already written, so you can publish it the same day.
2

Write the agreement

Open the Agreement tab. This is what signers read.
  • Start from a template, or write your own.
  • Add up to five checkboxes of your own alongside the built-in one.
The agreement freezes the moment you publish, and unpublishing does not reopen it. Every signature is stored against the wording it was made under, so a record you could edit afterwards would not be a record. Read it once more before you publish.

The agreement

What you can write, and what freezes when.

Write an agreement people will actually read

Playbook: pick a posture and keep it short.
3

Configure onboarding

Open the Onboarding tab.
  • Pick which identities a signer must connect before they can sign.
  • Add welcome content for the landing page.
Identity is what turns a click into a signature you can attribute. An NDA signed by an unverified stranger is worth less than one signed by a verified email you can trace.
4

Write the acknowledgement

Open the Acknowledgement tab. This is the screen someone lands on once they have signed.Tell them what happens next: when they get the build, where to ask questions, who to contact.
5

Publish and share

Click Publish, then copy the link.Your published NDA lives at /{studioSlug}/nda/{id}.
Publish is blocked while the agreement is empty. An NDA with nothing in it would collect signatures against nothing.

Share the link

The address, the modal, and how to reset it.

Announce it in Discord

Playbook: let the NDA post itself when it goes live.

Read the signatures

Open the Signatures tab. Each row is one person: who they are, when they signed, where from, and which revision of the agreement they hold. Use Export for a copy you can file. The export covers the whole ledger, not the page you are looking at.

Track who signed

Playbook: read the ledger and spot signers on an older revision.

Signatures

What each signature records, and why it cannot be edited.

NDA on a playtest
