An announcement is a message you write in Userplay and post to your Discord server. There are two kinds. A standalone announcement is the subject of these pages. You write it, you decide when it goes out, and it can repeat on its own. It belongs to nothing else, so it can carry anything: a devlog, a patch note, an event reminder. A resource announcement belongs to a playtest, survey, waitlist, NDA, or key vault, and it goes out when that resource publishes. You still write the message, but the link and the timing come from the resource.

Playbooks

Post an announcement to Discord

Playbook: write a one-time update and post it now.

Set up a recurring announcement

Playbook: a weekly devlog that posts itself for a set number of weeks.

Schedule an announcement

Playbook: pick the moment a one-time post goes out.

Track your announcement messages

Playbook: read the calendar, retry a failed message, skip an occurrence.

What you need first

Announcements post to Discord, so a server has to be connected before anything can go out. Open Announcements in the sidebar. Until a server is attached, the page offers Connect Discord instead of the composer.

Discord integration

Connecting a server and approving the bot. An Admin does this once.

How it works

1

Create an announcement

Open Announcements in the sidebar and click New announcement.
  • Choose One-Time or Recurring.
  • Give it a name and click Save Draft.
You land in the editor on a draft.
2

Compose the message

Open the Compose tab.Write the content, set the appearance, add link buttons, and pick the channel it posts to.
3

Set the timing

Open the About tab.A one-time announcement asks when it goes out. A recurring one asks how often it repeats, and how many times.
4

Publish it

Click Publish and confirm.A one-time announcement posts now or waits for its time. A recurring one starts its schedule.
5

Watch what goes out

Open the Messages tab.Every message sits on a calendar, so you can retry one that failed or skip a single occurrence.

What you compose

Everything a reader sees is set on the Compose tab. A live preview above the cards shows the embed as Discord will draw it.

One-time and recurring

You pick the type when you create an announcement, and it does not change afterwards. Recurring announcements need Essential or above. On Free and Indie every announcement is one-time.

Lifecycle

An announcement moves through the same stages as a playtest, plus one ending that only recurring announcements reach. Publishing freezes the content, so a message waiting to post cannot change under you. To edit a published announcement, unpublish it first.

What it costs

Your plan includes a number of announcement messages, and each post uses one. Drafting is free, and publishing is the moment that reserves them.

Announcement allowances by plan

How many messages each plan includes, and what recurring schedules are allowed.

Who can do what

Create an announcement

One-time or recurring, and the starter message a new draft opens with.

Compose the message

Content, appearance, link buttons, and the channel it posts to.

Publish an announcement

What publishing reserves and freezes.

Resource announcements

The other kind, owned by a playtest, survey, waitlist, NDA, or key vault.
